Autograph letter signed, dated : Leipzig Jan. 8 1842, to Carl Kossmaly in Detmold, 1842 Jan. 8.

Sending payment for Kossmaly's contributions to the last (15th) volume [of the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik], expressing the hope that the one on Marschner will follow soon, suggesting an article on Schubert--his larger works are still unpublished, but the songs and piano works are enough for an approximate picture--, suggesting he find a copy of the C-major symphony, saying he is glad Kossmaly will perform Schumann's symphony, adding that his Second Symphony and the Overture, Scherzo und Finale did not have as great a success as his first, but then Mendelssohn was absent as conductor, calling Mendelssohn "the best musician in the world just now," mentioning [Robert] Friese, etc.
